Free Lance-Star
Free lance-star microform receiving and processing
The only microfilm that we currently receive that is not a government document is the Free Lance-Star on microfilm. This is sent to us by ProQuest sporadically. To process it do the following:
- Search by title for keyword 31810388. This is the OCLC number that will bring up the correct bibliographic record.
- Click on the link next to the green dot that says Physical (6)
- Select the holding record for Microfilm.
- Click Edit (This will open the holdings record in the Metadata Editor).
- Update the 866 field to reflect the current holdings by changing the last date.
31 |8 1 |a September 2, 1926 - February 28, 2018; April 1, 2018 - February 28, 2021 should change to
31 |8 1 |a September 2, 1926 - February 28, 2018; April 1, 2018 - March 30, 2021 (if that is the last date for which we have coverage)
- Save and release the holdings record.
- On the side of the microfilm box where the month is listed place a pre-made label on top of the information. This label contains call number, title, and date range for the month. There are pre-made labels up until August 2020 at the Technical Services Specialist desk.
- Stamp the top of the box with the "University of Mary Washington Simpson Library" stamp. Be careful, it takes a little while for the ink to dry.
- Bring box downstairs to microfilm cabinets and shelve them in the appropriate location.
