Position Description
A student assistant in the Research and Instruction Department works with librarians to provide research help to library patrons by answering basic questions, assisting with library equipment, and helping to maintain the reference collection.
Position Duties
- Use the library search engine (Primo) and library databases to answer basic research questions
- Collaborate with the Research Librarians on detailed research questions
- Organize the Reference Collection according to the Library of Congress call number system
- Assist patrons with scanners, computers, printers, and copiers
- Ability to work independently with a supportive team of Research Librarians
- Other library projects and duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving and multi-tasking skills, especially under pressure.
- Ability to lift and shelve books at various heights

- Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
- Previous experience working in libraries.
- Interest in or ability to create social media posts, video tutorials, or Canva
- Proficiency with Google Drive, OneDrive, or Canvas
