Position Description
The Collection Services Student Assistant supports the daily operations and organization of the library’s collections by working closely with the Metadata & Collections Division. Responsibilities include stamping and sorting materials, preparing assessment lists for government documents, shelving collection items, and retrieving materials designated for withdrawal. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Position Duties
- Stamping and sorting of physical materials.
- Preparing lists and documentation of materials for review and evaluation.
- Pulling material for analysis, searching for missing books, and withdrawing material in accordance with library retention policies.
- Checking in and/or shelving periodical, microfim, and microfiche materials.
- Assisting with inventory projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
- Meet the qualifications listed on the UMW Student Employment website
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow directions and work independently
- Must have at least a 2.0 CGPA
