ILL requests may be submitted by any current student, faculty, or staff member. Guest patrons, secondary card holders, students auditing a class, and people not affiliated with UMW are not eligible for this service. Most ILL requests take 1 – 2 weeks to be processed and received, although some requests may take longer.
Requests are submitted electronically through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system. First-time users must Create an Interlibrary Loan Account before being able to submit requests.
We will ask other libraries to lend us your textbook, but those other libraries decide whether or not they wish to lend the book and how long you can keep it (often between 3 weeks and a month).
You will be notified via your UMW email account when your ILL materials have arrived.
ILL books and microforms may be renewed unless the label contains the statement ‘NO RENEWAL.’
The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the Law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproductions. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of that order would involve violation of the law.
