The Board of Visitors

The Board of Visitors is the governing body of a public institution or higher. The purpose of the Board of Visitors is "to establish the mission and purpose of the University and to promote the general welfare of the institution." (University of Mary Washington Board of Visitors, 2022) While Mary Washington College was a part of the University of Virginia, the college was overseen by the UVA Board. MWC matters were overseen by a committee of the UVA board.
