Zotero (pronounced "zoh-TAIR-oh") is free software that helps you cite your sources. With Zotero, you can...

  • Save sources to a personal library.
  • Organize your sources into collections for different projects.
  • Automatically generate bibliographies in any style, including APA, MLA, or Chicago/Turabian.

 

If you don't want to download software, try using ZoteroBib instead. ZoteroBib is a website that generates citations and bibliographies with no download required.

Installing Zotero

Button with the words Get ZoteroZotero is free. It runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux. It's compatible with Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Edge.

  1. Download the Zotero app
  2. Install the Zotero connector for your browser.

Mobile apps

Zotero is available as a mobile app for iOS or Android.

The mobile app provides many of the features of the full desktop version, and it also lets you add print books to your Zotero library by scanning their barcodes with the camera on your device.
