In the project FAQ, Dr. DeLancey says this about citing:

All Art History majors should use the Chicago Manual of Style (CMS). It is the standard for our field.

If you are not an Art History major and know another style manual well (e.g. MLA, APA), it’s fine to use that one. If you have questions, just be aware that I don’t know those manuals as well so you’ll need to go to the Writing Center.

If you have not used a style manual before, I recommend that you use the Chicago Manual of Style because I’ll be able to help you with it.

Chicago Note-Bibliography style requires two types of citations: footnotes (or endnotes) and a bibliography at the end. Here is an example of an entire paper in Chicago style, courtesy of the Online Writing Lab at Purdue University:
