Databases

UMW subscribes to hundreds of databases, including the recommended databases on this list. All patrons are welcome to browse these databases using the computers in Simpson Library. We also provide off-campus access to UMW students, faculty, and staff.

You can either search within one database at a time, or you can use Quest to search within many databases simultaneously.

Newspapers and magazines from ethnic and minority communities. Full text articles from over 315 publications as far back as 1990. Also includes Ethnic NewsWatch: A History, which provides full text articles from a few dozen publications as far back as 1959. To restrict your search to African American publications, select “African American” from the Ethnic Group drop-down menu.
