HIST 338: From Mongols to Ottomans

Encyclopaedia of Islam

The Encyclopaedia of Islam is a scholarly encyclopedia that was first published between 1913 and 1939.

Simpson Library has copies of the second edition, which was published between 1960 and 2005, and the third edition, which began publication in 2007. We receive additional volumes of the third edition every year.

Both editions are shelved in the Reference section on the first floor of Simpson Library. They may not be checked out. You can take photos or make scans of the pages that you need.

Unlike most encyclopedias, the Encyclopaedia of Islam is an appropriate source to cite.
