Welcome to the Simpson Library Genealogy guide. This guide is designed to help you find sources for genealogical research in the Fredericksburg area.

Simpson Library does not maintain a genealogy collection, but we do have some items that may be of interest to genealogists, including Fredericksburg cemetery records and historical newspapers. We also have a subscription to Ancestry Library Edition, which anyone can use for free on Simpson Library's computers, or while connected to Simpson Library's Wi-Fi. (UMW students, faculty, and staff can access Ancestry from anywhere in the world with their UMW passwords.)

For further genealogical research, we recommend the Central Rappahannock Regional Library, the Central Rapphannock Heritage Center, and the Library of Virginia.
