Competitor Analysis

Use this to search for:

Competitors for specific companies.

How to search for competitors:

  1. Type in a company in the "Find a company" search bar (for ex: Apple)
  2. Click search
  3. Click on the company profile. On the profile, will see a box that includes reports. There will be one clickable item that says "company competitors".
  4. Click on the "company competitors" and it will take you a search with financial reports. If you browse through those financial reports, you will see competitors listed on there.

How to search for competitors:

  1. Type in a company in the search bar (for ex: Apple)
  2. Click search
  3. Click on "reports" next to "all results".
  4. Browse the different reports to find competitors 

Use this to search for:

Statistical comparison of 2 companies

How to search for competitors:

  1. Type in a company in the search bar (for ex: Walmart)
  2. Click search
  3. Click on the tab called "analysis" 
  4. Under the "analysis" tab, Click on "comparison" on the left menu
  5. Type another company into the "compare to:" search bar (ex: Target)
  6. Browse the comparison statistics between the 2 companies

Industry Analysis

Use this to search for

Industry research.

How to search for industry information:

  1. Search for your industry via NAICS code
  2. Click on the specific industry you need
  3. Click on the industry profile. On the profile, you can find an overview, financial statements, SWOT, competitors, news, etc.

Use this to search for:

Industry information and reports.

How to search for industry reports:

  1. Scroll down and click on "Industry Reports" under "Explore featured content"
  2. Click on "industry reports by sector"
  3. Select which specific industry you want to browse (e.g. Communication Services)

Use this to search for

Quick information about each industry.

How to search:

  1. Click on "industries at a glance index" and then click on "industry order index"
  2. From there you can view each industry and click on which on you need

Macro Analysis

Use this to search for

Information about specific companies

How to search for company information:

  1. Type in a company in the "Find a company" search bar (for ex: Apple)
  2. Click search
  3. Click on the company profile. On the profile, you can find an overview, financial statements, SWOT, competitors, news, etc.

Use this to search for

Financial information for a specific company

How to search:

  1. Under "Company Search", search for the company of your choosing
    • make sure you have its full name (for ex: Apple's full name is "Apple Inc.")
  2. Click Search
  3. Annual reports are labeled as "10-K" and quarterly reports are listed as "10-Q" and current reports are "8-K"

  1. Type in a company in the search bar (for ex: Apple)
  2. Filter to the different kind of information you need by clicking on "source type" in the filters section

    • make sure to use the full business name (ex: Apple is "Apple Inc")

  3. Browse all of the tabs to find different information about the company
